Breathing Zone

Agglomeration is when particles are joined together or cluster. PuriFi’s patented blend of high-energy, long-life molecular ions attracts contaminants creating this clustering effect using their oxidative impact to agglomerate into heavy groups falling out of the breathing zone.

The most common indoor airborne allergens are pollen, fungal spores (mold), dust, dust mites, and pet dander. Allergy signs and symptoms include nasal congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes, or skin reactions. For some people, this same reaction also affects the lungs and airways, leading to asthma symptoms.

Airborne molecular purification or AMP technology uses PuriFi's proprietary in-duct cold plasma energy core to divide and charge the molecules in your HVAC system's airflow. The breathing zone is the region within an occupied space between 3 and 6 feet above the floor and more than 2 feet from walls or fixed air-conditioning equipment. The breathing zone is where we breathe 90% of air across our entire lifetime. PuriFi's in-room Sensors work by pulling in air from the breathing zone through the laser particle counter and reporting particulate levels every 90 seconds. When the Sensor detects that particle levels are too high, the IQ Generator responds. The system operates until the Sensor verifies the air within the breathing zone is purified and within your target air quality level.

Cold plasma bipolar ionization uses an electronic charge to create a plasma field filled with a concentration of positive and negative ions, the same ions commonly produced in nature. The charged ions interact with airborne pollutants, oxidizing and breaking down air and surface contaminants. Only PuriFi AMP technology leverages high-energy, long-life ion production created through our patented cold plasma energy process using maximum voltage levels without releasing harmful byproducts.

PuriFi's patented cold plasma energy core uses a proprietary high-voltage cold plasma process to generate ions. The result is a patented high-volume blend of ions known as RONS (Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species). An ion is either a positively or negatively charged atom or molecule. An atom or molecule has a positive charge if an electron or number of electrons are stripped away. An atom or molecule has a negative charge if an electron is attached through a process known as electron attachment. PuriFi AMP technology uses a patented blend of high-energy, long-life ion production, enabling the PuriFi ions to travel through the HVAC ductwork and into the occupied breathing space. The ions then agglomerate particles with positive and negative ion attraction, driving them out of the breathing zone.

A laser particle counter is a device for measuring the concentration of aerosols and particles in the air. The PuriFi PM Sensor draws in indoor air at a constant rate through a chamber equipped with a laser-based light. The laser detects and counts small and large particles floating in the room's air and reports the results in each cubic centimeter of air every 90 seconds. The PM Sensor measures particulates down to 0.3 microns in size, including PM1, PM2.5, and PM10.

An occupied environment, or occupied space, refers to the area within a building or structure occupied by people, i.e., homes, offices, schools, medical facilities, retail, and restaurants. Infectious microscopic organisms are known as pathogens, and they can multiply quickly. Bacteria are tiny pathogens that reproduce rapidly after entering the body, and they can release toxins that damage tissues and cause illness. Smaller than bacteria, a virus invades a host cell and then replicates, producing hundreds and thousands of new viruses that infect more host cells. Viruses can pass from person to person through respiratory droplets that travel through the air.

PM stands for particulate matter (also called particle pollution). It is a mixture of airborne aerosols and particles such as organic dust, airborne bacteria and viruses, allergens, and odors.

The size of particulate matter has an adverse effect on our health. Particles are defined by their diameter. As we breathe, airborne particles and pathogens with an aerodynamic diameter of 10 microns (PM10) deposit in the nose and pharynx of our respiratory system. Particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns (PM2.5) are small enough to reach our lungs and deposit in the bronchia. Particles smaller or equal to 1 micron (PM1) find their way through the cell membranes of the alveoli into our bloodstream. According to the CDC, airborne aerosols and particles under 5 microns are the most harmful to human health. They can contain viruses and bacteria and remain airborne in the breathing zone for up to 41 hours or more.

Real-time feedback relates to a system in which input data is processed within milliseconds to be available virtually immediately as feedback. PuriFi’s automated management system monitors, measures, and responds to indoor air quality levels with real-time feedback proving its performance.

The efficacy of an air-cleaning device or system is a measure of its ability to remove pollutants from the spaces it serves in real-world situations. There are limited standards for air purification testing, and each test can contain its own parameters and configurations. Testing is often under very different conditions that don't always replicate the real world.
